We are currently coordinating with our Choir Director to move away from fast fashion in their Showcase costumes. We are working to source from thrift stores, warehouse deadstock, and local small businesses to achieve this goal!
To achieve our mission of educating the youth in our community, we are working with our school's lower grades to teach the kids about sustainability and fashion through hands-on activities, age-appropriate information, and interactive games.
To expand these efforts beyond our school's community, we are working with Operation Breakthrough, a local non-profit organization that prioritizes after-school enrichment for kids from disadvantaged communities.
We are partnering with Andrea Boswell-Burns, the owner of Hula Hoop KC, a vintage clothing store in Kansas City, to organize a clothing swap event for our community. A clothing swap provides an excellent opportunity to promote sustainability and community engagement. By facilitating the exchange of used clothing among participants, such an event encourages the reduction of textile waste, extends the lifecycle of garments, and offers an environmentally friendly alternative to fast fashion.
